Online course for academic library technicians available at BCTC


Bluegrass Community & Technical College offers for Fall Semester 2007 a course in academic library services, an overview of current practices, trends, collections, programs.

The course is completely online. And, it is affordable!

Course Description, LIT 299-J0Z1, Academic Library Services


This course will provide a forum for the study of programming and operational processes in academic libraries. The unique missions of these libraries as well as historically significant developments in services and operations will be examined in light of their relevance for today’s academic library. Information needs of college/university students, instructors, researchers, and administrators will be discussed. These unique information needs and the educational missions of higher education will direct and focus the discussions of each library issue in the course. In addition, special attention will be given to significant contemporary trends in academic library programs & operations.
